City officials announce construction of facility for mounted unit

On Monday, city officials announced plans to construct a facility for the Philadelphia Police Mounted Unit on Chamounix Drive. The facility is set to be 13,000 square feet, constructed of steel, and is intended to house around 40 horses. The site itself is adjacent to the McCarthy Stables, which is also known as the Chamounix Equestrian Center. The facility’s barn will be set up for 42 stables, five feed stalls, four track room, and three wash stalls fully equipped with indoor plumbing.

City officials to begin plaza renovation project soon

A permit granted to Occupy Philly protestors reportedly expires at the beginning of a large project to renovate the City Hall plaza. City officials reportedly posted notices on Wednesday at the site informing protesters they will need to vacate the plaza and have all their personal belongings removed. The construction project has apparently been in the works for some time.

Chestnut Hill community debates rezoning proposals for lot

Following on the closing of the Magarity Ford dealership, Bowman Properties has proposed new zoning plans to make way for a high-end supermarket in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood. Bowman reportedly introduced legislation before the City Council in last October which would extend the commercial designation of the lot beyond what it formerly was, allow exemptions to the code for mixed-use buildings, and change the direction of a traffic lane bordering the lot.

Economy prompts voters in historically dry community to approve liquor sales

Camden County officials plan residential development for Pennsauken Mart site

Officials in Camden County recently announced that the Pennsauken Mart site, which was set be demolished and replaced with a hockey arena and convention center seven years ago, will now become the site of residential development next summer.

Report shows increase in commercial property loans

In the third quarter of 2011, the number of U.S. commercial property loans was the highest it has been since 2007, according to a recent report by the Mortgage Bankers Association. At the end of 2007, the Mortgage Bankers Association rating system ranked the number of commercial property loans at 275, and that number reached 138 by the end of September.
